| My Mom's Guide to Using iPhoto 2
A step-by-step guide to the everyday features of iPhoto. |
These instructions assume that you already have a personal website, and that you know how to transfer files from your Mac to that site. For publishing your photos to your dotMac account (which is a lot easier) see this page.
Probably the best ways to share your photos with lots of people is by publishing them on the Web. But it can be a lot of work to manually organize your photos so that they can be viewed on the web in an attractive, and well-organized, way.
You would need to resize each of your images so that it fits well on most computer screens, you'd want to create smaller thumbnails of each pic, and create a gallery page so your viewers can easily browse your pics.
That can be a lot of work. But iPhoto will do all that for you.
Your photo gallery will be created in a folder.
Create a Temporary Photo Album
Chances are that you really want to put pictures on the Web that are not already in an iPhoto Album. To do this you can create an album just for this purpose.
Before following the Steps above, create a new album, and move into it just the photos that you want to put on the Web.
Change the order of the photos
Your may have noticed that the photos in your web gallery are in the same order as they are in the Album you created them from.
Customize the order of your photos by dragging them around in the album before following the steps above.
Change the size of the pics and/or thumbs.
If you have alot of photos, or only a few, to put on the Web you can change the size that they will appear.
In the window where you clicked the Web Page tab, you can edit the sizes of your thumbnail versions, and your final photos, before clicking the Publish button.
